Move Over, Somers Point: Webster’s Tavern Is the New Hot Spot in Town

The South Jersey dining scene has a new contender, and judging by the crowds, everyone wants a seat at the table.

Webster's Tavern, the newest restaurant and sports bar in Somers Point, officially opened this week in the former Windjammer Diner location, and naturally, I had to see what all the excitement was about. While many locals will always have a soft spot for the Windjammer, after one visit to Webster's, I have a feeling this place is about to become one of the area's favorite gathering spots.

We arrived around 4:30 p.m. for an early dinner, and the parking lot was already packed. After one loop around the property, we managed to snag a spot and headed inside. The hostess greeted us warmly and let us know the kitchen was running about 20 minutes behind.

Normally, that's not what you want to hear when you're hungry, but one look around made it easy to understand why. The bar was packed, tables were buzzing with conversation, and guests with reservations continued streaming through the doors. For a restaurant that was only a few days into its grand opening, business was booming.

Fortunately, the wait felt much shorter than expected.

A Complete Transformation

The new ownership team has completely reimagined the space. The bar has been relocated, the dining area feels larger and more open, and every available seat was filled with eager diners.

The menu isn't overwhelming, but it offers exactly what you'd want from a neighborhood tavern: burgers, sandwiches, flatbreads, appetizers, and desserts.

But you know what really caught my attention?

A dedicated mocktail menu!!

The Mocktails

As someone constantly searching for restaurants with quality non-alcoholic options in South Jersey, this was music to my ears.

Frozen Coco Limeade

This drink tasted like summer in a glass. Creamy, tropical, and refreshing, it reminded me of a virgin piรฑa colada with a citrus twist. It was the kind of drink you immediately start planning to order again before you've even finished it.

Jolly Rancher Refresher

The name doesn't lie. This mocktail tasted exactly like a watermelon Jolly Rancher candy transformed into liquid form. Sweet, fruity, and nostalgic, it would definitely satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth.

During the dinner rush, manager Sam was everywhere. Checking tables, helping staff, and making sure guests were taken care of. I stopped him to compliment the mocktail menu, and he shared something that made my sober-living heart happy.

He understands that guests want more options than soda, and his team is happy to create custom non-alcoholic drinks upon request.

Excuse me while I shed a tear of joy.

Dessert First, Because Rules Were Made to Be Broken

If you've been reading my adventures for any amount of time, you know dessert comes first in these reviews.

Our table shared the Hot Skillet Cookie Sundae, and it was every bit as indulgent as it sounds.

A giant warm chocolate chip cookie arrived fresh from the oven, topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream that slowly melted into every gooey corner.

Honestly, is there a better combination than warm cookies and cold ice cream?

The three of us practically battled over the last bite.

The Food

To start, we ordered the oversized Bavarian Pretzel.

Unfortunately, it arrived without the cheese sauce. A pretzel without cheese? Absolutely not.

Thankfully, Sam stopped by shortly afterward, and once we mentioned the missing cheese, it was corrected immediately. That's the kind of customer service that makes a difference.

Webster's Classic Burger

My mom ordered the Webster's Classic Burger topped with lettuce and tomato.

The moment it hit the table, you could smell that unmistakable charcoal-grilled burger aroma. I was so jealous. Naturally, I had to steal a bite.

The burger was slightly undercooked for her preference, and while she chose not to send it back, the portions that were fully cooked showcased quality ingredients and excellent smoky flavor.

With several creative burger options on the menu, I'll definitely be returning to try one of their specialty burgers that sounds suspiciously similar to a certain famous fast-food favorite.

Chicken Pesto Sandwich

I chose the Chicken Pesto Sandwich.

It arrived a little differently than described on the menu. The seeded baguette was replaced with a different bread, and the listed cheese was missing.

Normally, those details would matter more, but considering Webster's was only on day four of service and the restaurant was packed, it felt more like opening-week growing pains than a major issue.

The sandwich itself was delicious. The pesto brought a fresh, herbaceous flavor that paired perfectly with the chicken, making it an easy recommendation for sandwich lovers.

The fries, however, didn't quite win me over. As a self-proclaimed french fry enthusiast, that's saying something. They weren't bad, but they weren't memorable enough to take home.

Truffle Mushroom Flatbread

The standout dish of the evening belonged to my husband. The Truffle Mushroom Flatbread was loaded with caramelized onions, mushrooms, and roasted red peppers.

This wasn't your average veggie flatbread.

The crispy crust paired beautifully with the earthy mushroom flavors, while the truffle elevated the entire dish into something that felt a little more upscale than typical tavern fare.

Every bite worked.

Sports Fans, This Place Is For You

One thing my husband noticed immediately was the sheer number of televisions.

Seriously.

It felt like every available wall space had a screen.

When we asked Sam about it, he explained that Webster's Tavern has 38 televisions and recently joined a program that allows them to stream virtually any sporting event, whether it's local, national, in-market, or out-of-market.

As someone already planning football season activities, all I heard was:

"Guess I'm spending Sundays here this fall."

By then, the kitchen will have settled into its rhythm, the opening-week kinks will be ironed out, and guests will be enjoying every touchdown with a mocktail in hand.

Final Thoughts

Opening a new restaurant is no easy task, especially when the community is excited enough to pack the place within days of opening.

While Webster's Tavern experienced a few understandable hiccups during our visit, the excellent mocktail program, attentive management, inviting atmosphere, and promising menu make it one of the most exciting new restaurants in Somers Point.

For sports fans, families, casual diners, and fellow mocktail enthusiasts, Webster's Tavern is absolutely worth putting on your South Jersey dining radar.

Final Sober Party Girl Score: 7/10 ⭐

Great Mocktails. A few kitchen hiccups. Webster's Tavern has all the ingredients to become one of Somers Point's most popular bars and restaurants, and I can't wait to see how they grow.

Until Next Time,
