Homemade Italian Food, Hidden Mocktails, and a Surprise Gem in Ocean City, NJ

Image
How is it the end of July already?! Time flies when you're working every day. LOL! An Unexpected Mocktail at Harpoons on the Bay in North Cape May Speaking of work, I found myself spending last Saturday working from what felt like an island oasis. WMGM was hanging out at Harpoons on the Bay in North Cape May , and wow...this place is awesome. The property has a little bit of everything: a building for the restrooms, a garage that's been turned into a bar, an outdoor bar, and a more traditional restaurant that connects to a huge deck linking everything together. Add in a sandy beach area to relax, and it feels like you've escaped somewhere tropical without leaving South Jersey. I didn't have time to eat, but I did have time for a mocktail. The bartender happily offered to make me whatever I wanted, so naturally I told him to surprise me with whatever he thought was good. A few minutes later, he handed me a gorgeous Blueberry Mojito made with fresh blueberries, mint, and...

Ocean City Drone Show, Squares and Fare Pizza & The Roost Review: South Jersey Summer Adventures

It has been a busy week around South Jersey! One of the highlights was finally checking out the new Ocean City, NJ Drone Show with our friends from Belize. If you love travel blogs, definitely check out their adventures at Real Life Recess , and if you're ever planning a trip to Belize, their gorgeous Driftwood Gardens Guesthouse is still living rent-free in my head. Seriously... I think about that place almost every day. Hundreds of synchronized drones light up the night sky to create colorful shapes and animations that are surprisingly impressive. If you've never been to a drone show before, I'd definitely recommend adding it to your South Jersey summer bucket list. My only hope is that they rotate the designs throughout the season. Seeing new themes every few weeks would give p...

Ice Cream, Derby Nights, and Possibly the Best Brewery in South Jersey

Before the full summer madness officially takes over the Jersey Shore, I wanted one more peaceful drive through Ocean City . I love living near the shore, but once summer arrives, everything changes fast. The boardwalks become packed, parking turns into a competitive sport, and every street suddenly feels like it’s hosting a parade. Don’t get me wrong, the energy is part of the magic. Shore towns thrive this time of year, and honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way. But there’s something special about sneaking in those quiet local moments before the chaos officially begins. And let’s be real, it’s not just Ocean City . Every boardwalk town in South Jersey transforms once the temperatures rise. Ironically, I’ll be spending plenty of Saturday nights in Wildwood this summer helping with events, so I’m basically trading one crowded boardwalk for another. Here’s hoping for decent parking, fun crowds, and a safe summer season for everyone. A Nostalgic Ice Cream Stop in Ocean City Even wit...
