Tacos, Birria & Mocktails: A Trip to Flavor Town at Tacos El Tio in Egg Harbor Township

The summer is winding down. It’s almost time for local summer. I’m still very busy, and I apologize if my writing is taking a hit because of it. When you live, work, and play in a party town, time just isn’t real. Or at least, it feels like 1 minute happens in 1 second. But I did find time to find a couple mocktails! Tacos and birria will always have a special place in my heart. So, when we found ourselves at Tacos El Tio in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, I was more than ready to dig in. From the moment we arrived, things were off to a great start. We were seated right away, and our server was incredibly friendly. Of course, one of my first questions had to be about a mocktail. I asked, and he didn’t hesitate. The Mocktail Soon, a Virgin Mojito with pomegranate appeared at the table. Oh. Yea. It was bubbly, fresh, minty, a little tart, and absolutely delicious. Honestly, I could sit at the bar sipping on these all night! And because no Mexican meal is complete for me without one, I a...

Ocean City Drone Show, Squares and Fare Pizza & The Roost Review: South Jersey Summer Adventures

Image
It has been a busy week around South Jersey! One of the highlights was finally checking out the new Ocean City, NJ Drone Show with our friends from Belize. If you love travel blogs, definitely check out their adventures at Real Life Recess , and if you're ever planning a trip to Belize, their gorgeous Driftwood Gardens Guesthouse is still living rent-free in my head. Seriously... I think about that place almost every day. Ocean City, NJ Drone Show Review The new Ocean City drone show takes place over the boardwalk in between the Music Pier and the old Wonderland Pier, and it was honestly a really cool experience. Hundreds of synchronized drones light up the night sky to create colorful shapes and animations that are surprisingly impressive. If you've never been to a drone show before, I'd definitely recommend adding it to your South Jersey summer bucket list. My only hope is that they rotate the designs throughout the season. Seeing new themes every few weeks would give p...

A Brand-New Experience at Pablo’s in Somers Point (+ A Mocktail Surprise at Texas Roadhouse)

There are many reasons I feel lucky to call South Jersey home, but one of my favorites? The growing mocktail scene. More and more restaurants in our area are embracing sober living, offering creative nonalcoholic drinks instead of the usual “we can make you a Shirley Temple .” And honestly? That deserves to be celebrated. Thanks in part to the amazing HERO Campaign and their mission to encourage designated driving, mocktails are becoming easier to find at bars and restaurants across South Jersey. It makes going out feel more inclusive, and a lot more fun for those of us living alcohol-free. This week gave me two very different dining experiences… one unexpectedly delightful, and one unforgettable for reasons I wish were better. A Surprise Stop at Texas Roadhouse (with Mocktails!) The week started with a place I honestly never imagined I’d be visiting: Texas Roadhouse. I’m not exactly a “Texas” girl (Go Birds), but Joe had a Veterans Day free meal coupon, and I wanted him to enjo...
