South Jersey's Sober Party Girl

It isn’t summer in Atlantic County without a visit to Bay Avenue in Somers Point, New Jersey. This iconic stretch is home to some of South Jersey’s favorite restaurants, including Smitty’s Clam Bar , The North End Grill , and, of course, The Anchorage Tavern . We visited The Anchorage last year, and it was actually one of the very first restaurant reviews we shared on the SNJ Sober Party Girl blog . While it certainly didn’t need a “redemption visit,” it will always be one of those classic Somers Point dinner spots that deserves another trip. The Anchorage Tavern is the oldest continuously operated business establishment in Somers Point, with roots dating back to around 1874, when it originally opened as the Trenton Hotel.   Let’s keep the good times rolling with another Somers Point tradition—Gregory’s Bar. Back in July, I was craving good food and, of course, a Herotini (because what’s summer without one?). Luckily, Somers Point has plenty of spots that support the Hero Campaign’s Herotini Challenge, and Gregory’s was calling my name. Confession: Gregory’s and I have had a love/hate relationship in the past. But listen—when there’s a Herotini on the line? I always come back. A Little Gregory’s History Gregory’s has been around since 1908 , (fun fact: my favorite year!) and it’s got stories to tell. From Prohibition days to a recent Taco Tuesday feud with Taco Bell (we love the drama!), Gregory’s has seen it all. It has been a busy week around South Jersey! One of the highlights was finally checking out the new Ocean City, NJ Drone Show with our friends from Belize. If you love travel blogs, definitely check out their adventures at Real Life Recess , and if you're ever planning a trip to Belize, their gorgeous Driftwood Gardens Guesthouse is still living rent-free in my head. Seriously... I think about that place almost every day. Ocean City, NJ Drone Show Review The new Ocean City drone show takes place over the boardwalk in between the Music Pier and the old Wonderland Pier, and it was honestly a really cool experience. Hundreds of synchronized drones light up the night sky to create colorful shapes and animations that are surprisingly impressive. If you've never been to a drone show before, I'd definitely recommend adding it to your South Jersey summer bucket list. My only hope is that they rotate the designs throughout the season.
