Something Different in Atlantic City: Trivia Night at a Hidden Distillery…
Atlantic City gets mixed reviews, but I’ve always thought it’s truly a playground for grown-ups. World-class restaurants, an eclectic boardwalk full of the usual souvenirs plus things you can’t find anywhere else, and nonstop entertainment. The tricky part? When you’re with a group, everyone wants something different. One person wants a show, another wants karaoke, someone else is craving a brewery.
Our crew was leaning toward the brewery route… until someone remembered: Atlantic City has a distillery. And even better, they were hosting trivia that night. Decision made. Off to trivia we went.
Enter Little Water Distillery, tucked on the corner of Lexington and Baltic Ave. It’s one of those places you might miss if you’re not looking for it, but once you walk in, you’re greeted with a cool warehouse vibe, plenty of tables, and a warm, welcoming bar. Opened in March of 2017, they serve cocktails, flights, martinis, and sell their own spirits by the bottle. No full food menu, but there are snacks like popcorn and pretzels to keep you company.
Now listen… I came for trivia. That’s it. I assumed this would be a “sip water and cheer politely” kind of night for me. But then… Angels sang. A MOCKTAIL MENU!!!! Only two options, but honestly? I felt seen. I ordered both.
The Mocktails:
First up: a “Shirley Temple.” Lemon-lime, simple syrup, club soda, grenadine (but not the bright red kind), and a fresh cherry. But this wasn’t your childhood Shirley Temple. This was her grown-up, sophisticated cousin. Light, bubbly, subtly gingery, with a rich black cherry vibe. Honestly, more like “Shirley Black”—married, thriving, and fabulous.
(For those of you who don’t know, the actress Shirley Temple got married to Charles Black.)
Next: a Virgin Mule with ginger beer, mint, and lime. Tangy, a little spicy, with that satisfying ginger burn that lets you know it means business. Refreshing and delicious.
Trivia kicked off, and the tables around us were filled with clinking martini glasses and competitive energy. We didn’t exactly dominate the game, but we had fun, and I did save the day when I remembered that EAC in Finding Nemo stands for East Australian Current. You’re welcome, team.
After a night of laughs, mocktails, and mildly impressive Disney knowledge, we took the short walk back to the car, already talking about where we’d end up next time.
That’s the magic of Atlantic City. You never quite know where the night will take you, but it’s almost always a good story. 🍸✨
