Hanging at Hangtime Bar and Grille: Snowed In, Vibes Out

As predicted, the snowstorm officially canceled our big, glamorous plans of parties, shows, five-star dining, and obviously walking out of the casino as millionaires. (A girl can dream, right?) Well we didn’t become millionaires, but we did find the perfect snow day vibe.

After being snowed in for a few days, we needed to get out of the house. Not for an over-the-top hootenanny… just somewhere with good energy, good food, and zero pressure. Sometimes, like a wave, you just wanna catch a vibe.

So we headed to Hangtime Bar and Grille on the White Horse Pike in Absecon for Happy Hour and DJ Bingo.

And honestly? It was exactly what we needed.

The Vibe

When you walk into Hangtime, it almost feels like two different spots in one.

On one side: the lively, loud bar area.
On the other: a quieter restaurant space that’s perfect if you’re not feeling the chaos.

Since it was Happy Hour, we grabbed seats at the bar. It wasn’t packed yet, but word on the street is that by 7 p.m., DJ Bingo brings the crowd. You could already feel the energy building.

Menus slid our way with the specials front and center. There wasn’t a mocktail menu (you know I’m always looking 👀), but the bartender didn’t blink when I asked. She happily listed everything she could make. No judgment, just options and positive vibes. We love to see it.

The Mocktail Moment

As she ran through the possibilities, her final suggestion was a Peach Mule.

Peach?! I haven’t had a peach drink since my middle school Snapple era.

Let me tell you, this one delivered. Sweet peach, bright ginger, bubbly and refreshing. It tasted like a warm spring day in a glass… which was especially impressive considering there were two feet of snow sitting in the parking lot outside.

10/10 would order again.

The Food (Happy Hour Girls, Assemble)

Happy Hour snacks for $8? Say less.

Here’s what we tried:

Chicken Pastina
A bowl of pure comfort. Think elevated chicken noodle soup with big, soft chunks of carrot, celery, and chicken. Cozy. Classic. No notes.

Cream of Mushroom Soup
Listen. Cream of mushroom has never been my top pick. But this? Game changer. Warm, velvety, almost cheesy, and packed with fresh mushrooms. I was shocked (in the best way).

Giant Pretzel
And I mean giant. Big, soft, buttery, served with cheese. The cheese wasn’t groundbreaking, but the pretzel itself? Solid Happy Hour staple.

Personal Pizza
Thin crust. Ooey gooey cheese. Perfect crunch. An absolutely respectable bar pie and somehow even better the next day.

DJ Bingo Energy

Within an hour, the vibe completely shifted.

What started as a chill after-work bar scene turned into a full-on party. DJ Bingo kicked off with random songs blasting overhead while everyone scanned their boards hoping to connect the dots.

We didn’t walk away winners… but we were this close. And honestly, the energy alone made it worth it.

Final Thoughts

I’ve been to Hangtime a few times now, and it consistently delivers good food, good service, and an atmosphere that can match whatever mood you’re in.

Whether you want a laid-back dinner on the quiet side or a high-energy DJ Bingo night at the bar, it works.

And as always, I’ll be back to try more dishes… and of course, test out more mocktail creations.

Until next time,
The Sober Party Girl

Side note: We also went back to see our friends at The Landing Point Tavern in Mays Landing! The meal? AMAZING. The Mocktails?! YO! It’s the real deal, and now they even offer their mocktails in a fun glass instead of just cans. A small change that felt like a total upgrade. ✅ Pros

🍑 Mocktail-friendly (Peach Mule win!)
💸 $8 Happy Hour bites
🍕 Solid comfort food + bar classics

🧀 Pretzel cheese was just okay.. More like meh.

Bottom Line: Affordable, fun, and vibey without trying too hard. Perfect for when you want out… but not out out.
